Site Council Update - June 2007

A recent proposal at Site Council was for a parent-funded school bus from the Los Feliz community. Discussions included cost per student per day, as well as pick-up locations and times because of the K/1st grade time differences. Parent Rob Schweber is exploring possibilities, as well as gathering bids from bus companies for various services. Also, plans are underway for representatives from Parent Teacher Organizations and Booster clubs to come to our school and give us information about starting our own similar group(s).

Site Council Update - May 2007

LFCSA is examining a “Go Green” initiative for the school. Discussions included buying only “green” cleaning products and recycled paper, having a more extensive recycling program, and adopting a zero-waste lunch policy. Site Council has appointed a sub-committee headed by parent Sherrell Cuneo and incoming parent (2007-2008) Cecily Harrison to explore this exciting possibility.

If you are interested in helping out - please contact Sherrell Cuneo and Cecily Harrison.

Site Council - April 2007

Site Council welcomes the newest Parent Representative Jennifer Werndorf to the council. The council continues to finalize the Single School Plan – a document which sets academic goals for our students, and a methodology to evaluate whether the children are achieving these goals. We also are working with the committee heads to facilitate better communication to our families and working on how best to mobilize our parent volunteers. All parents are welcome to come to the meetings. Please contact Marta Alcumbrac should you wish to have any item placed on the agenda.
